Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during kharif season of 2008 to study the effect of different nutrient levels on growth and yield of winter maize genotypes was studied during rabi season of 2008–09. Three nutrient levels (100:50:50, 150:65:65 and 200:80:80 kg N: P2Os: K20/ha) as main plots and four genotypes (Kaveri-50, Mon-27, Buland and Seed Tec-2324) in sub-plots were evaluated for their effect on growth and yield of maize. Application of 200:80:80 kg N: P2Os: K2O/ha gave significantly higher grain yield than 100:50:50 kg N: P2Os: K20/ha. The genotype Mon-27 produced significantly higher grain yield than Buland and Seed Tec-2324. However, it was statistically on par with Kaveri-50 (9350 kg/ha).
